To feed the hunger in the world and to nurture the
injured in nature, I
will grow herbs in the little greenhouse I plan to build, when I
get the money. I will raise bees and harvest their honey,
maybe
next year. In my art, and in my mind, I will honor mother earth and the
power of nature. I will live a clean and truthful life and will do the
work that is my work. I will listen to people's stories and try to help
them sort things out, if I can. I will tend lovingly to my animals, as
they so lovingly tend to me: The old goat (now buck-toothed) Odin, my
"Handsome," my
"Love Dog," Pan " (recently lost),
"Bugaboo," the
rooster who always makes me laugh,
"Quack-quack," my brown duck who honors me with her trust. and my good
girls "Jewel," such a possessive puppy, and "Meko-Peko," the spinny dog
who
JUST WANTS LOVE! In my own quiet way, I will make the world a better place. I will be mindful in all I create. I will try to be considerate in all I touch, but I won't be a door mat all the same. I will not pollute the earth with chemicals, and I will recycle the cardboard, plastics and cans. I won't waste resources, including food. And I will be humble when I eat meat, mindful that a living breathing, feeling creature lost it's life, without choosing to. I will challenge myself to move beyond my comfort zone, to take on my social responsibilites. I will speak up. I will act, rather than sit it out. When I die--Tomorrow? In 30 years?--I will at least have done my part, even if all the ills of this world have not been cured by me, I can say 'I was the change', and maybe a teacher in some small way. |
