I believe
that the Creative Spirit can only truly soar when the artist allows
herself to be a vehicle for its energy. I experience this energy, in
part, as psychic phemonena. I, the artist, am a spiritual medium. The source can variously be a divine entity (like Jesus, or the Goddess), or inspiration that flows through the matrix of life, or it can be through a felt connection with a human spirit who has passed on...I can let it flow or can choose to let it inform my work in some manner, such as connecting with a current from the past. I feel this when I work on some of my historical pieces. When I envision a new work, I tap into the great matrix, a place where ideas flow without getting tired or stale. It is important to me that I feel unimpeded by social constraints which try to mold my style or content. Conventional ideas about art, by experts or by the ordinary observer, tend to get in the way of my commitment to operate from a point of inner truth. When I create, I want to create something real, in terms of what it vibrates, and what it communicates. It matters less to me that I keep up any pretense of being an "artist". Creatively speaking, I am what I am, and continue to evolve. However, the process would be much helped by material support, so that the bigger ideas could be given the necessary time to actualize. |
